Live in KCH is set to make sure What About Kuching (WAK) 2019 starts loud with heavy music by bands from South East Asia, in this event held at Location X (formerly Ting & Ting Supermarket) on September 29, from 12PM till late.
The showcase will feature three main acts: Wormrot (Singapore), Maddthelin (Malaysia) and Second Combat (Malaysia), alongside six Sarawak-based heavy music bands, namely Bronco Buster, Path To Survive, Myopia, Exhale My Ozone, Wild Horse and Epoch Vultures—each has been paving names and playing music for audiences beyond just Kuching.
Wormrot is bringing their grindcore sound all the way from Singapore to be unleashed to their Kuching fans this September. To date, this grindcore trio have released three full length albums since their establishment in 2007. Listed as one of the top 10 international grindcore band worldwide by OC Weekly and the first Singaporean band to play at Glastonbury Festival, you wouldn’t want to miss them at LIVE IN KCH.
Fans of Blessthefall and Bring Me The Horizon are in for a treat—Maddthelin is the hardcore screamo band you should look forward to. Or if you’re already halfway through the ride, you’ll probably know that the frontman Lenny is from the land of Borneo himself. Maddthelin has rocked the stage at Rock the World, Rockaway and Rocktoberfest, and will soon rock LIVE IN KCH.
Despite being formerly punk, Second Combat couldn’t take out the hardcore from their music—they have mashed into a straight edge legend, influential across South East Asia. Being founder of the Malaysia Drug Free Youth Association, the frontman Ein directs the band towards spreading messages of anti-racism, fascism and positivity—and their combat doesn’t stop at LIVE IN KCH.
The team behind LIVE IN KCH has been around doing smaller scale annual shows featuring international bands since 2010.
This year, LIVE IN KCH goes bigger in support of What About Kuching and its wider music audience. LIVE IN KCH wants heavy music fans to be immersed in the experience of enjoying their favourite genre live in the island of Borneo—without even having to leave the island.
As the pioneer of larger-scale heavy music shows in Kuching, LIVE IN KCH aims to build a solid platform for heavy rock music in the local music scene. This is for the lovers or hardcore, punk and metal across Kuching.
Tickets can be bought online (www.liveinkch.com) and at MusicOutlet Kuching (Emporium, Jalan Tun Jugah), for RM50/pax. Tickets will also be available at entrance for RM60/pax.
